What are scars?
Scarring is part of the healing process. Scars are what form on the skin when it repairs itself. They appear following a break in the skin tissue, such as an injury, surgery, a burn, a poorly extracted pimple, etc.
Except for very small lesions, every injury causes a scar. The tissue that forms to repair the skin is not the same as the tissue that it replaces and surrounds it. This tissue is usually “less functional”, meaning that it is more sensitive to certain factors, such as the sun, that it is stiffer and that sweat glands and hair no longer develop under the scar.
Moreover, as the scar tissue is different from the skin, it is also visible, which is completely normal, but can bother some people.
