Fast, simple and minimally invasive transmission
Pigmented lesions are remarkably common and the vast majority are benign. It is widely recognized in the medical community that Q-Switched lasers are the ideal tools to effectively eliminate benign pigmented lesions. Q-Switched multi-wavelength laser systems with frequency-doubled KTP are capable of producing very short pulses of intense light that are selectively absorbed by treatment-specific pigments within a lesion.
Four wavelengths for the widest range of lesions
Fotona's StarWalker laser system is the ideal tool for treating a wide range of pigmented lesions, treating everything from moles and vascular lesions to ephelides, sun spots and melasma. Superficial lesions can be treated more effectively with the 532 nm wavelength, while the 1064 nm wavelength can be used to target deeper lesions.
Safe, effective and minimally invasive treatments
The StarWalker is particularly effective for difficult-to-treat conditions due to the selectivity of the Q-switched light, allowing it to break down only pigments and not cells. This means that pigment destruction can take place without removal of the skin – a unique feature that also enables other treatment possibilities, such as the safe and effective removal of complex multi-colored tattoos.
In addition to Q-Switched lasers, Er:YAG lasers can also be used for the ablation of keratoses, moles and other pigmented lesions, allowing the removal of the epidermis and superficial dermis in a controlled manner and relatively bloodless. Clinical studies have shown that Er:YAG lasers are very effective for the treatment of keratoses, with clinical and histological improvement of up to 93% after a single treatment.
Superior performance
StarWalker's advanced, high-energy, single-pulse technology is much more effective at removing pigment than multi-pulse lasers that generate equivalent energies. StarWalker's high-energy Q-switched technology allows larger spots to remain effective by avoiding the scattering effect of laser light in skin tissue.
The high energy single pulses are not affected by the optical shielding phenomenon resulting from pigment destruction, meaning more and deeper pigments can be targeted and removed, maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the laser treatment in a single session. Using larger spot sizes also requires less fluency to be effective.
Handpieces and accessories
Fotona's innovative, specially designed handpiece technology enables safe, precise and optimal delivery of laser pulses to the treatment area. The new R-HX handpiece produces a completely flat hexagonal-shaped laser beam profile to enable more precise and uniform coverage. There are no empty spaces between spots and no unwanted overlap. This ensures greater efficiency and superior clinical outcomes.
