Fotona Onychomycosis

Fotona's ClearSteps™ Onychomycosis Treatment is a revolutionary, user-friendly method for treating onychomycosis (toenail fungus). This is a simple and effective procedure that uses the power of Nd:YAG laser light to heat evenly throughout the depth of the affected nail and skin tissue, effectively weakening and killing parasitic fungi that have infected the patient's nails.

Safe and effective, without side effects

Deep, pulsating heating of the nail bed stimulates the destruction of parasitic fungi. The body's natural growth and immune processes are then able to restore the nail to its original state. Compared to traditional methods, the effects of laser light propagate uniformly throughout the tissue and are subject neither to chemical diffusion limitations (as topicals are) nor to the induction of hepatoxic side effects (as c is the case with oral medications).

ClearSteps™ is done in three simple steps:

Step 1: File the nail. During onychomycosis, the nail becomes deformed and invades, it can also thicken. Filing the nail allows the laser light to completely penetrate the treatment area.
Step 2: Administer Nd:YAG laser pulses in a circular pattern covering the entire nail. Slightly overlap the beam so that the nail is completely covered. The patient should feel a slight sensation of warmth throughout the nail.
Step 3: Target the Nd:YAG laser pulses around the perimeter of the nail bed and around the finger or toe. Often, parasitic fungi have spread beyond the nail bed and must be eliminated throughout the tissues surrounding the nail to prevent recurrence.

The ClearSteps™ treatment is typically performed four times, one week apart. All nails must be treated during each treatment. Laser light can also effectively treat fungus that has infected skin tissu
